MAHOTTARI: One person died and another sustained critical injuries when a truck hit a motorbike they were riding on at Bardibas of Mahottari district along the East-West Highway in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Dhungel (28) of Mahendranagar-2, in the district, informed the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Seriously injured in the incident, Dhungel breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Bardibas-based Lalgadh Hospital, SP Janak Bhattarai said.

Police said that Anil's brother Sunil Dhungel (26), who was riding pillion on the bike, was critically injured in the incident.

Sunil is receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The truck (Na 3 Kha 4375) hit the bike (Ba 68 Pa 6875) heading towards west from east from behind at around 2 am, police said.

Police said that they have impounded the truck and arrested its driver for investigation.
