Twin murder accused still at large

Itahari, April 29 :

The local police have failed to arrest those involved in the killing of Kailash Chandra Agrawal and his wife, Kantadevi. They were found dead in the storeroom of their hardware shop on March 18.

Soon after the incident, the Itahari Chambers of Commerce and Industries had warned of staging agitation if the culprits were not arrested immediately. “We will launch a protest programme to bring the accused to the book,” ICCI first vice-chairman, Rohit Prasain, said, adding: “We suspect the intent of the police,” he said.

“Former chairman of FNCCI, Chandiraj Dhakal, had also expressed commitment to take initiatives to effect the arrest of the accused. However, no attempt has been made yet,” the businessmen said.

Meanwhile, police have already released those arrested on the suspicion of involvement in the incident. “A probe committee led by SSP Bhaktinath Majhi had come to Itahari to work on the case. However, the committee did not find anything,” a police source said.

A meeting of ICCI, Inaruwa Chambers of Commerce and Industries, and Dharan Chambers of Commerce and Industries formed a Struggle Committee today.

Saying that the police have been investigating the incident, police inspector Bishwomani Pokhrel said, “We will find the criminals at any rate.”
