Two alleged extortionists nabbed

BIRGUNJ: Two persons including a teenager have been arrested on Saturday on charge of threatening various school operators to pay them Rs 500,000 as donation in Parsa district.

Police identified the suspects as Ram Balak Prasad Mukhiya Bin (53) of Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-14 and Mahesh Patel (17).

Earlier, they had disguised themselves as Abhaya Singh and Sagar Singh respectively, members of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha, and threatened the school operators over phone and via letters for the "donation".

The school operators were terrified as the duo had threatened to shoot or kidnap them if their demands were not met.

The duo even threatened to plant a bomb in the school premises, added police.

According to spokesperson of Parsa District Police Office DSP Hobindra Bogati, they had thrown a socket bomb inside the compound of South Zone Boarding School in Birgunj on February 26.

Police were able to trace them with the help of a motorcycle (Na 12 Pa 778) used in the crime, added DSP Bogati.

Earlier, Patel was arrested twice in the arms and ammunition case whereas Mukhiya Bin was sentenced to jail for a drug-related case, said Parsa DPO.
