Two arrested for murder

Rupandehi Police today arrested two persons for their involvement in murdering Ram Prasad Tharu of Sainamaina Municipality, yesterday night in Rupandehi.

Area Police Office Butwal held Dinesh Kunwar, 25, of Sainamaina and Hari Narayan Chaudhary, 24, of Butwal Sub-metropolitan city, for their involvement in Tharu’s murder. Kunwar and Chaudhary are in-laws.

They were made public at District Police Office, Rupandehi, today.

Tharu’s body was recovered from Dawankhola of Sainamaina.

SP Budhhi Bahadur Gurung, of DPO, said Kunwar had confessed that they murdered Tharu after he was found in a compromising situation with the former’s mother. Kunwar’s mother had first met Tharu during a wedding ceremony at Sainamaina just four days ago.

According to Kunwar, his mother returned to her house saying that she had forgotten to close the door while they were celebrating his wife’s birthday on Tuesday evening.

When Kunwar followed her after suspecting foul play, he found his mother and Tharu in a compromising situation and hit Tharu to death with the help of a stick. After the murder, he took the body on a bicycle with Chaudhary and dumped it on the banks of the river.

Tharu used to earn his living by dancing on different occasions whereas Kunwar is a tractor driver and Chaudhary a construction worker. According to DSP Mahendra Khadka, a murder case has been filed against the duo.
