Two bodies recovered from Mahakali River after four days

BHIMDATTANAGAR, KANCHANPUR: Bodies of two teenagers who were swept away by Mahakali River four days ago, were recovered downstream in Kanchanpur district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Kapil Khati (16) and Dipesh Kunwar (16), both the residents of Bhimdattanagar Municipality-14 in the district. Another person identified as Rahul Upadhyay (15), who was also swept away by the river along with Khati and Kunwar has remained missing.

The body of Khati was recovered from Dhalnaghat area and that of Kunwar from the area where the trio were washed away, according to the Police Inspector Birdatta Panta.

The bodies would be handed over to their families after completing the legal process, Inspector Panta said.

Meanwhile, the search is on for missing Upadhyay, said police.
