Two dead, one hurt as ambulance hits motorbike in Siraha

SIRAHA: Two persons were killed and another one injured after an ambulance and a motorcycle collided at the main intersection in Gol Bazaar Municipality-4 along the East-West Highway in Siraha district, on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Bishnu Mahara (35) and Rakesh Mandal (24), and the injured as Narayan Mandal all the residents of Siraha Municipality 12 in the district

According to Chief at Gol Bazaar-based Area Police Office, Inspector Janak puri, Ambulance (Sa 1 Cha 693) heading in an eastward direction rammed the Motorcycle (Sa 6 Pa 8062) killing its riders Mahara and Mandal at around 10:00 pm yesterday. Mandal duo and Mahara were riding the motorcycle.

Mahara died on the spot while Mandal succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital in Biratnagar, Inspector Puri said. Narayan who was injured in the incident has been undergoing treatment at local health institution, police said.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been kept at Ramkumar Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital in Lahan.

The ambulance has been impounded by the APO while the search is on for the driver who fled the scene after the incident, police informed.
