RAUTAHAT: In line with a campaign to curb violence and other crimes caused by alcohol abuse, Rautahat police have raided various small setups selling illegal liquor and arrested two female liquor producers on Sunday.

According to police, the arrestees, 40-year-old Sanjani Tamang and 45-year-old Hari Maya Tamang, of Gajura Municipality-1 were held under charges of corrupting rural society by producing liquor.

Police have seized and destroyed 11,000 litres of bootleg liquor and raw materials used to produce it as part of a campaign to shut down illegal setups operating around various wards in the district, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shanti Raj Koirala informed.
