Bara District Court today sent two persons, including former Constituent Assembly member and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal central member Pramod Gupta, to jail for setting a car owned by a medical doctor ablaze on Thursday night.

Pramod Gupta and local leader Arun Singh were sent to Birgunj Prison, said the court.

Local Hifajat Miya was killed in the police firing during the third Madhes agitation at Kalaiya's Bharat chowk four years ago.

Cadres of the Madhesi parties had set the car owned by doctor Sailesh Jha on fire saying that he had written false details of Miya's post-mortem report. Police had filed the case against Gupta and Singh saying that they had set the doctor's car on fire.

The court had sentenced Singh and Gupta each to six months in prison and issued an order to pay compensation of Rs 983,333 to the victim on 7 February 2018.
