Two Indian nationals held with counterfeit Nepali currency from Jhapa

BANIYANI, JHAPA: Police on Tuesday arrested two Indian nationals for possessing counterfeit currency from Kakarbhitta checkpoint in Eastern Nepal.

Police identified the arrestees as Satish Agrawal (40) and Hitesh Agrawal (24), both of Siliguri, India.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jitendra Kumar Basnet, the duo was arrested in front of the gate of customs checkpoint in Mechinagar Municipality-6 along with counterfeit Nepali currency to the tune of Rs 50,000 from their possession.

Police confiscated counterfeit currency to the tune of Rs 33,000 from Satish and Rs 17,000 from Hitesh.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
