Two killed in bus accident

Dhading, April 21

Two persons died after a bus met with an accident along the Prithvi Highway road section at Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading today.

The deceased have been identified as Parbati Budhathoki, 71, of Kalinchowk Rural Municipality and Haribansa KC, 28, of Charikot, Dolakha. Police said Budhathoki died on the spot while KC breathed his last in the course of treatment in Rajmarga Community Hospital, Malekhu.

Dhading District Traffic Police Office said the bus bound for Manakamana temple carrying pilgrims from Kathmandu fell 50 metres below the road in a bend. As many as 25 persons were injured in the accident. Of the injured, 17 are receiving treatment in the community hospital while eight others were referred to a Kathmandu-based health facility for further treatment.

Police said more than 30 pilgrims were travelling in the bus. Pilgrims from Dolakha and Kathmandu had reserved Sanyukta Yatayat for their religious trip to Manakamana temple. According to Gajuri Area Police Office, the accident occurred after the bus tried to overtake a truck.
