Two killed, six injured in Rupandehi van accident

KATHMANDU: Two persons were killed and six others were injured after a van they were aboard went out of control and flipped in Siyari Rural Municipality-3 of Rupandehi district on Friday night.

Police identified the deceased as local residents Hari Prasad Gupta (30) and Banwari Chaudhari (55). It has been learned that Gupta was a temporary police.

The incident occurred after the pickup van (Lu 1 cha 7761) heading towards West from Bethari suddenly lost control and flipped at Shukrauli, injuring eight passengers aboard at around 9 pm yesterday, according to the District Police Office (DPO).

All the injured were rushed to the Bhairahwa-based Bhim Hospital where Gupta and Chaudhary breathed their last during the course of treatment the same night.

Meanwhile, police said they are searching for the four-wheeler driver who fled the scene after the incident.
