Two killed, three injured in separate accidents along Prithvi Highway in Kaski

KATHMANDU: Two persons were killed and three others were injured in two separate accidents along the Prithvi Highway in Pokhara Metropolitan City of Kaski district.

According to Kaski District Police Office (DPO), a truck (Na 5 Kha 5046) rammed a motorcycle (Ga 7 Pa 7428) and a scooter (Ga 11 Pa 2358) killing a person and injuring three others, at Gagangaunda in Pokhara-32, at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raj Kumar KC said 18-year-old Sagar Gurung of Parsyang in Pokhara-5, who was riding pillion of the scooter was killed in the truck-hit.

Gurung who had come under the wheel of the truck was critically injured and rushed to Western Regional Hospital affiliated with Pokhara Health Science Academy where he died during the course of treatment, DSP KC informed.

Others injured in the incident are Scooter rider Nishan Gurung of Archalbot in Pokhara-2, Motorcycle rider Bikal Sunar (22) of Bhandardjik in Pokhara and pillion rider Deepak BK of Rupa Rural Municipality-7. All of them are undergoing treatment at Naya Bazaar-based Gandaki Medical College.

In a separate incident, a mini-van hit a motorcycle killing its rider along the Prithvi Highway in Talchok, Pokhara-27 on Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as Thapan Paija (28), a resident of Baglung district who had currently been residing in Kirtipur Municipality in Kathmandu district.

Critically injured in the road accident, Paija was rushed to Pokhara Phulbari-based Manipal Teaching Hospital the DSP KC informed.

Police have impounded both the vehicles and arrested their drivers involved in separate road accidents,

Meanwhile, investigation into both cases are underway, the DSP said.
