Two masterminds behind Udayapur ambush brought to trial

KATHMANDU : Two district leaders affiliated to Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party have been sent to the Udayapur District Prison on Tuesday.

They had been remanded to judicial custody on attempted murder and carrying out explosions, according to the District Police Office, Udayapur.

The party's District Secretary Baburam Subedi and member Bal Bahadur Magar have been accused of carrying out bomb blasts in different locations of the district in the lead up to the December 7 elections.

They have been charged with murder attempt in the bomb blast targeting Nepali Congress Udayapur-2 House of Representatives candidate Narayan Bahadur Karki and his cadres in Danuwarbesi of Udayapurgadhi on December 2, according to police.

They are being tried at the district court, according to Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Bhatta, Chief at the District Police Office, Updayapur.
