Two police officers suspended for attempt-to-rape

SANKHUWASABHA: Police on Thursday suspended two of its officers on charges of attempting to rape a 16-year old girl.

According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dhanraj Khatiwada, working at Area Police Office, Ankhibhui and Police Constable Mikma Sherpa, based at Area Police Office, Hedangna were handed over suspensions.

The District Court has released ASI Khatiwada on general date while Police Constable Sherpa is in custody, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, Shyam Kumar Saru Magar.

Meanwhile in Bhojpur, police have started necessary action against three persons arrested on the charge of involvement in rape.

Those arrested are Sandesh Rai, 16, of Salpasilichho Rural Municipality-4 of Bhojpur, Madan Rai, 25, of Bhojpur Municipality-1 and Chhatraman Rai, 25, of Hatudagadhi Rural Municipality-6, according to the District Police Office, Bhojpur.

Sandesh was arrested for raping a five-year-old girl on September 22, Madan for raping a 15-year-old girl on September 18, and Chhatraman for raping a 47-year-old woman with disability on September 18.

Investigation into the case is underway, said Information Officer at Bhojpur District Police Office, Charitra Bikram Karki.
