Two teams to draft NCP’s statute

Kathmandu, February 27

The task force for formulating the interim statute of the party-in-the-making — Nepal Communist Party — after the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre merge, today formed two teams to formulate the preliminary drafts of the interim statute and the process of unification of the sister wings of the two parties.

According to UML politburo member Beduram Bhusal, who is also a member of the preliminary draft formulation team, the task force assigned him and CPN-MC leader Barshaman Pun to formulate the preliminary draft of the interim statute. He said UML leader Gokarna Bista and CPN-MC leader Giriraj Mani Pokhrel had been assigned to prepare a report suggesting the model of unification of the sister wings of the two parties.

Bhusal said the teams would submit their reports to the task force by March 6. He said the taskforce would submit the final report to the party unification coordination committee headed by two chairmen — KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal by March 9. Earlier, the UML and CPN-MC exchanged the statute of their respective parties and description of their party organisations.

CPN-MC leader Ram Bahadur Thapa-headed task force  also comprises UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel, Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, and Secretary Gokarna Bista, leaders Surendra Pandey, Raghubir Mahasheth and Beduram Bhusal from the UML.
