UCPN-Maoist issues whip to vote for Oli in PM election

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist has issued a whip to its lawmakers to compulsorily attend the Legislature-Parliament meeting and cast their vote to the CPN-UML candidate, KP Sharma Oli, in the prime ministerial election on Sunday.

UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal himself is the proposer for the CPN-UML chairman's candidacy for the post of Prime Minister.

The two communist parties forged a 14-point agreement to form a new alliance on the eve of the election.

Following the decision, some central members of the UCPN-Maoist expressed their dissatisfaction over the alliance.

The Maoist Parliamentary Party held a meeting today late afternoon. The party has 83 lawmakers in its parlimentary squad after Baburam Bhattarai severed ties with the party and resigned from the Parliament few weeks ago.

Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and Oli are vying for the post of country's executive head.

Koirala, who was elected the country's Prime Minister in February 2014, resigned from the post earlier today before filing his nomination.
