UK support to continue: Dr Hall

Charikot, May 19:

British ambassador to Nepal Dr Andrew Hall today said the UK would continue helping Nepal’s new government.

Addressing journalists at a press meet in Charikot of Dolakha Dr Hall said Britain wishes to see early formation of the new government and promulgation of a new constitution.

The CA election was a milestone to bring a remarkable change in the country and that it is up to Nepalis to decide who should stake claim to form new government, he said.

On a query about the future of monarchy in Nepal, Dr Hall said that was Nepal’s internal matter and that his country had nothing to do with it.

Dr Hall said the UN Mission in Nepal has completed half its task with the successful completion of the CA elections and that the remaining task to manage the weapons was incomplete. “Nepal government is the authority to decide on the fate of the UNMIN,” he said.

He said the murder of a commoner in the Maoists’ PLA cantonment was a crime. He added that any illegal activity carried out by the YCL should be curbed through legal means.
