Umbrella being used to shield medicines during monsoon in Bajura health post

MARTADI: The dilapidated building of Dewalsain Health Post at Barabish in Bajura district has been affecting in health services delivery to the patients in the district recently.

Health post in-charge Kul Bahadur Rawal said staffers have been using umbrella to shield medicines and documents from rain inside the building during monsoon.

Rawal further said, due to lack of maintenance of the building water leaks during monsoon, building is said to be be built some two decades ago.

Auxiliary Mid-Wife, at the health post, Sabitri Shahi said due to lack of proper building they are unable to provide 24 hours obstetrics and gynecology services to women in the district.

"We are facing difficulty in providing emergency services late night due to lack of infrastructure," Shahi lamented.

Senior Health Assistant Tek Bahadur Khadka said lack of proper building has hampered in delivering health care services and counseling to the patients in the district.

Bajura has altogether 28 health care centres including one primary heath care centre, 26 health posts and District Hospital. However, 14 health posts do not have proper building for delivering services.

Despite frequent notice to the concerned authorities about the twilight of the health posts in the district, however, it has fallen in the deaf ears, shares health professionals in the district.
