The CPN (UML) has announced its candidates for the positions of mayor and two ward chairpersons for the upcoming local-level by-elections next month.
A few days ago, UML's municipal committee recommended Dr. Surendra Manandhar as the candidate for mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, with Harsha Man Maharjan and Badri Budhathoki as candidates for chairpersons of wards 1 and 4, respectively. These nominations were unopposed.
At a program held today to formally announce the candidacies, candidate Manandhar stated that public representatives should serve in line with the aspirations of the people of Kirtipur.
On the occasion, UML Standing Committee member Rajan Bhattarai, along with other party leaders, emphasized that public representatives should engage closely with the community and commit themselves fully to their responsibilities.
