UML boss in favour of unity govt
MYAGDI: CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal today said that a government of national consensus should be formed to end the ongoing impasse.
“It’s high time the political parties act responsibly ending differences of opinion, if any,” the UML chair said while inaugurating the seventh district conference of his party here.
“The Maoists should join the incumbent government and turn it a national government,” he added.
Clarifying that socialism via multi-party janabad is the ultimate goal of the party, Khanal said the UML never supported one-party socialism.
“As UML is following right principle, the Maoists are following UML’s path,” Khanal claimed, hinting the Maoists’ shunning of violence. Warning of serious consequences in the delay in passing the budget, Khanal said, “There is no other way out. All have to come to agreement by giving up their arrogance.” He advised the Maoists to change their tendency of individual interest and Nepali Congress to give up the tendency of sticking to power.
Saying that the drafting of the new constitution was a kind of “people’s revolt”, Khanal said that his party was ready for any kind of sacrifice for the sake of the new constitution. There is no second option that dialogues and consensus to solve the problems the nation is facing, Khanal said.
He also warned that the regression was imminent if the statute was not drafted on time.
