Sarlahi, November 14:

Armed cadres of the Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala (JTMM-J) assaulted CPN (UML) cadre Yogya Bahadur Silwal with khukuri, injuring him seriously last night.

According to sub-inspector at the Sarlahi district police office (DPO), Mahendra Shah, 10 JTMM-J cadres suddenly attacked Silwal, who was staying at the courtyard of his house in Chankaul (Purbari) VDC-4, nine km north of Malangawa.

Silwal, who is also a member of the Sarlahi DDC, was referred to Kathmandu for further treatment, police said. A team of police has been mobilised to arrest the assaulters, said SP Ganesh KC.
