UML cadre found murdered in Banke

Nepalgunj, January 26:

An active cadre of the CPN-UML and former district member of the party’s youth wing — Democratic National Youth Federation — Prakash Shahi (35) was found dead at Chandranagar in Nepalgunj today.

His body had bruises, SP Mingmar Lama said, adding that he was hit in the head.

The CPN-UML district committee denounced the murder and demanded stern action against

the murderers.

Meanwhile, a meeting between district chairman of the Nepali Congress Krishna Man Shrestha, CPN-UML district secretary, CDO Ganesh Bahadur Khatri and SP Lama reached an agreement to provide reasonable compensation to the bereaved family, arrest and punish the murderers, and control crime in the district.

The bereaved family claimed the body only after the agreement.

Bhagat Singh, the Banke district in-charge of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha-Jwala Singh, called a FM station today and owned up the killing.

He accused Shahi of spying against the Morcha.

Meanwhile, Waiba Khatun, who was believed to have been abducted some 15 days ago from

Betahani of Banke was rescued from an undisclosed location in India today.
