Kathmandu, January 5:
As the government deadline for the Maoists to come to a negotiation table is nearing, the CPN-UML today appealed to the Maoists to accept the offer of talks.
“They (Maoists) will never emerge victorious by waging war. So, we have once again asked them to come to talks,” said Amrit Kumar Bohara, a standing committee member after the high command body’s meeting.
The standing committee meeting has also asked the government to create a conducive atmosphere and remove all barriers preventing the rebels from coming to the dialogue table. He said that the Maoists should not miss the opportunity of talks, as the government has expressed its commitment to talk on all the issues raised by the rebels.
The party also decided to launch a nationwide campaign to exert public pressure on both the government and the rebels for resuming the talks.
