UML ends House obstruction as govt agrees to withdraw circular on local levels

KATHMANDU: The main opposition CPN-UML on Wednesday evening ended the obstruction in Parliament proceedings after the government agreed to withdraw its decision on increasing the number of local levels.

Protesting the decision that the government made after an agreement with the agitating Federal Alliance, the UML had been obstructing the House since yesterday.

As the government assured the UML of withdrawing the circular issued to the Local Development Officers in 11 districts, the House, which was adjourned earlier this afternoon, resumed in the evening.

Subsequently, the House endorsed a proposal that Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Shanker Nayak tabled. seeking consideration on the new constitution amendment bill.

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has resumed on Wednesday evening.

The meeting that had been postponed for 3:00 pm began a while ago after the government withdrew its proposal to add local units in 11 districts.
