UML leader hails NC move
Kathmandu, August 29:
Leaders of other parties in the seven-party alliance have welcomed the NC decision to delete constitutional monarchy from its statute. Speaking at the Reporters’ Club, CPN-UML leader Jhalanath Khanal said people should have the right to write their constitution through elections to the constituent assembly and that NC must decide in favour of a democratic republican set-up. Stating that constitutional monarchy and democracy cannot go hand in hand, Bimalendra Nidhi of the NC (D) said he was in favour of a constituent assembly. RPP leader Deepak Bohara, however, stressed the need for a dialogue between the King and the democratic parties.
