UML-RPP alliance in Kathmandu, Lalitpur elections

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party have formed an alliance in the local level elections in Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Lalitpur Metropolitan City.

Top leaders of the two parties, UML Chairman KP Sharma and RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa, decided to shake hands in the local level elections in the two metropolises.

The CPN-UML has fielded its candidates -- Bidya Sundar Shakya in KMC and Hari Krishna Byanjankar in LMC -- for the mayoral post, with an understanding to support the RPP candidates in the run for deputy mayor.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party CPN-UML has announced candidates of mayor and deputy mayor of other municipalities in Kathmandu valley.

The party has nominated Krishna Hari Thapa and Bindu Sinkhada respectively as mayor and deputy mayor candidates for Kageshwori Manahara Municipality, Punya Chaulagain and Shanti Shrestha as mayor and deputy mayor candidates for Gokarneshwor Municipality.

Prakash Adhikari and Gyan Maya Dangol will contest elections as mayor and deputy mayor candidates in Tokha Municipality.

The party fielded Ram Krishna Bohara and Bhanu Dotel respectively in Tarakeshwor Municipality, Prahlad Karki as mayor candidate and Lisa Nakarmi as deputy mayor candidate in Dakshinkali Municipality; Uddhav Kharel and Rama Rai respectively for mayor and deputy mayor candidates in Budhanilkhanta Municipality.

Likewise, Krishna Hari Khatri and Sushila Adhikari have been chosen as mayor and deputy candidates respectively in Nagarjun Municipality. Subarna Shrestha and Shukra Laxmi Shrestha will contest elections for mayor and deputy mayor candidates in Shankarapur Municipality.

Similarly, party fielded Ramesh Maharjan and Saraswati Khadka respectively for mayor and deputy mayor candidates in Kirtipur Municipality.

Shashi Sharma Aryal and Mira Acharya Maharjan will contest elections in Chandragiri Municipality as mayor and deputy mayor candidates.
