UNCA supports injured trekker

KATHMANDU: US Nepal Climbers Association (UNCA) have raised fund for the support of Chongba Sherpa who lost his feet in a car accident while returning from his trek to Tibet.

According to the president of UNCA, Passang Nima Sherpa, the organisation handed over Rs 215,520 to Sherpa yesterday. The money will be used to get him an artificial leg.

UNCA which is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2014, works for the promotion of growth and protection of mountaineering and climbing worldwide, advance safe and ethical mountain practices and promotion of responsible access, culture and environmental protection.

Earlier, the Association had helped to provide rock climbing materials to other organisations such as Nepal Mountain Academy (NMA) and Women Climbers’ Association (WCA). UNCA has also offered over USD 300 each to three Sherpa families to support their children’s health and education earlier.
