Unidentified group sets fire to Ncell tower in Kaski

POKHARA: As a powerful blast shook Ncell head office in Kathmandu valley Friday night, fire was set to an Ncell tower in Badahare Danda of Pokhara Metropolitan City-27 in Kaski district.

The fire -- which was ignited by splashing petrol -- only caused partial damage to the tower as security personnel from Sishuwa-based Police Office and locals immediately brought the fire under control. The incident site was close to the police office.

Cables installed in the tower have been damaged in the fire.

"The total damage cannot be ascertained until a technician gives further information on the matter," said Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson at Kaski District Police Office, Rabindra Man Gurung. He added that police have already initiated an investigation into the incident.

He further informed, the Ncell tower was set on fire at 10:00 pm yesterday and that search was on for the person/group responsible for the act.

With the Ncell tower damaged, internet and telecommunication facilities in Lekhnath area of Pokhara has been interrupted.
