Unified Command not scrapped in far west

Dipayal, July 19:

Two weeks have elapsed since the decision to dissolve the Unified Command Force but nothing in this regard has been done so far in the far western region.

After training, the police and Army used to work together for operations. Altogether 300 unified force personnel were deployed in the far western region, sources said. According to a unified force official, there are 110 unified force units in Doti, 38 in Bajura, 60 in Dadeldhura and some in other districts of the far western region. “We are deprived of certain facilities which are provided to police forces,” said the officer. Another unified force official said: “We have been insulted on both fronts — the army and the police.”

Tilak Bahadur Chand, inspector in the far western regional police training centre, Dipayal, said: “They will be pulled out soon. A talk is underway regarding this issue.”
