Unknown caller threatens to wipe out family
Phidim, September 21:
The family of Mitra Lal Koirala of Tharpu VDC 4 of Panchthar district who was murdered by unknown persons in July is living in terror after an unknown person threatened over telephone to kill them all within a week. The unknown caller made telephone calls to Koirala’s family on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Claiming to be a member of the Limbuwan Mukti Morcha army, the unknown caller made telephone calls from a Mero Mobile number 984639633 on Koirala’s land line, said locals. The Koirala family has gone into mourning after getting the calls.
Koirala’s elder son Durga Koirala reached district headquarters Phidim to narrate his family’s plight to the administration. The elder Koirala had filed cases against 73 villagers accusing them of robbery, theft and cow slaughter. The defendants had then threatened him to take back the cases failing which he would killed.
Now, with Koirala gone, his family is under pressure to take back the cases or they will be killed, said Durga.
He added that he, his brother Krishna and sister Rita were facing the prospect of being displaced from their home in Tharpu VDC 4.
Human rights activists in the district have urged the administration to provide security to the Koiralas. The Koirala family has also lodged a written complaint at the district police office.
Deputy superintendent of police Mukti Shrestha said the police administration has been given necessary directions in this regard.
