Unknown gang vandalises mosque in Dang
Dang, September 17:
A gang of unidentified persons with khukuris and axes in their hands vandalised a mosque in Bhaluwang today.
The vandalism caused damage in the wall of the mosque, electric wires and its door, sub-inspector at the Bhaluwang Area Police Post BB Malla said.
Police baton-charged to disperse the gang and two policemen including a sub-inspector injured when gang pelted stones to the police, the police said.
A meeting of the eight political parties and civil society held after the incident demanded to take action to the guilty.
A peace procession was taken out here today at the call of the Deukhuri Chamber of Commerce after the violence in Kapilvastu and Rupandehi districts.
RSS reports: The Home Ministry today extended condolences to the families of the people who died as a result of violence in Kapilvastu.
The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Nepal today condemned the violence in Kapilvastu and Rupandehi, Representative at the Office, Richard Bennett, said.
