UNMIN chief calls on PM
KATHMANDU: UNMIN chief Karen Landgren on Thursday called on Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, and discussed the progress on peace process, the integration of Maoist combatants and the ongoing political deadlock. The duo also dwelt on the UNMIN'S term, which expires on January 23. The PM complained to Landgren about the ‘biased’ report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The UN chief had called for the formation of a unity government, which the ruling coalition objected to calling it an
interference in a sovereign nation’s affairs. However, both agreed that the peace process was in peril, and parties should reach a
consensus on this crucial issue.
