Modernisation of agriculture can resolve unemployment problems: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that Nepal's unemployment problems could be resolved through modernisation and commercialisation of agriculture sector.

In a meeting with a delegation of National Milk Producers' Society at the PM's official residence in Baluwatar today, Dahal further said that importance of agriculture sector should not be belittled.

The delegation offered a letter of felicitation to the Prime Minister for giving due priority to agriculture sector and setting up National Farmers Commission, the PM's Secretariat said in a statement.

Expressing his grief over the State's failure to properly address the issues related to agriculture sector, though it was backbone of the country's economy, Dahal vowed to take decisions in favour of farmers in the future, according to the statement.

On the occasion, the delegation drew the Prime Minister's attention towards the need of establishment of a powder milk factory in Chitwan, veterinary lab services in all districts and provision of subsidy in import of agricultural goods.
