Washington DC, February 13:

This Valentine’s weekend, Nepalis here held a Valentine’s night rock concert to raise funds for various activities benefiting children and elderly back home.

Organised by the I Help Nepal non-profit group (www.ihelpnepal.org), the concert was performed by Nima Rumba and Raju Lama. In collaboration with Danfe Entertainment, Inc, the group had also organised a similar event

earlier in the week in Boston. Proceeds from the concerts will go to the orphanage and adult literacy programme run by he Gyanodaya Bal Batika School.

Describing both events as mega hits, I Help Nepal founder Prabha Deuja credited their success to Nepali youths actively involved in the organisation.

Since its establishment in 2003, the organisation has invited various Nepali artists to perform in the US for charity.

Deuja, who has been living in the US since the 1980s, says she wants the organisation to continue involving Nepali-American youths in helping Nepal.

The organisation is also collaborating with the Nepal Police Association to help run a drug and alcohol rehabilitation programme. She hopes it will bring together Nepalis on both sides of the continent in their fight against a common social ill.
