KATHMANDU: The application for the United States' 2017 electronic Diversity Visa (DV) programme is opening on Thursday, October 1.

According to the US Embassy in Kathmandu, intending applicants can fill up the digital form in www.dvlottery.state.gov from 9:45 pm tomorrow till 10:45 pm, November 3.

The Embassy said that it recommends the applicants against using a consultant to assist with their applications.

The DV programme makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States, according to US Department of State.

The lottery winners immigrate through consular processing and issuance of an immigrant visa.
