Varsity’s call for govt recognition

Kathmandu, July 26:

The proposed Siddhartha University has failed to get official recognition from the government despite fulfilling all the necessary criteria 10 years ago, Dr Bhikchu Sunanda Mahasthabir, president of the university, said today.

In a press release, Dr Mahasthabir said that the government has ignored their application without giving any reason.

“Seeking justice, we submitted a letter to the Speaker of the parliament on June 6, but we have not yet received a response,” he said.

The Ministry of Education and Sports issued a letter on May 23 stating that the issue is being discussed, it said, adding, “Two months have passed by and there is no further notice,” the statement said. Other universities, who applied after the Siddhartha University, have already been recognised, the statement said.
