MELAMCHI: Reports of violence against women topped the list of complaints registered at the District Police Office, Sindhupalchok in the last fiscal year.

Of the total 232 complaints registered in 2014/15, 120 were related to incidents of violence against women, police informed.

Of them, 85 have been resolved while nine are under consideration at the local court. Investigation into 26 of the reports is still underway.

Police had arrested 130 persons on different charges of offense in last fiscal year.

Likewise, reports of VAW was followed by 31 reports related to public offense, 18 related to murder and 17 of rape, according to DSP Biswa Adhikari of the District Police Office.
