Verfication of PLA men stays halted

Chitwan, January 25:

The verification of Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) personnel in the third division of the Maoist army camp in Shaktikhor of Chitwan district did not resume today as well.

“No date has been fixed for resuming the verification of PLA personnel,” secretary of the division, Abiral said.

The verification process came to a halt after the Maoists insisted that name of the brigade and battalion be attached to containers containing arms.

However, the UN team insisted that names of Maoist People’s Liberation Army personnel be attached on containers, sources said.

Meanwhile, commander of the third division of the PLA, Bibidh, said the verification was stopped as the chief of the UN monitoring team and he himself had gone out.

The UN team had started the verification of PLA personnel in Chitwan on January 15.

UN had pasted its stickers on identity cards of over 5,000 Maoist People’s Liberation Army personnel of the third division of the Maoist army camp in Chitwan

as of Tuesday.
