Villagers thrashed over dispute

Bhaktapur, November 25:

A horde of youngsters beat up locals of Telkot VDC over a minor dispute this morning.

Eighty-year-old Baburam Lamichhane, 70-year-old Krishna Prasad Lamichhane, 63-year-old Kanchhi Lamichhane, Dinesh Lamichhane, and 11-year-old Rupa Lamichhane are among those injured in the beating.

Eyewitnesses said the youngsters, who were headed to Kakani for picnic, began arguing over a car that was parked along the road. “They started yelling and shouting while the driver was pulling out the car. They hit me on my mouth when I asked them not to make the parking of a car a big issue,” said Krishna Prasad. His lips are swollen and he has lost three incisors. He is undergoing treatment in the Bhaktapur hospital.

Som Lama, an assailant who sustained a cut in his left leg, has also been admitted to the same hospital. Police arrived at the scene later and mediated on the dispute. The assailants admitted their mistake and promised to cover medical expenses of the injured.
