Viral fever patients influx health institutions in Udaypur
GAIGHAT: Various health institutions including the District Hospital have been crammed with patients after viral fever hit Udaypur district in the recent days, health workers said.
Viral fever has been rampaging in various places like Triyuga, Belaka and Chaudandi Municipalities and Sunkoshi, Rautamai and Udaypur Rural Municipalties in the district for the past one week.
The Gaighat-based District Hospital, which houses a total of 50 beds, have been treating more than 60 patients on a daily basis.
Due to the influx of the patients, the hospitals have been forced to treat them on floors and anywhere there is space, said Dr Bishal Dev, chief of Medical section at the hospital.
The patients complained of having headache, sore throat and fever, added Dev.
According to the hospital, consumption of contaminated water, weather change and rainfall are the causes for the the fever to propagate.
