Vote counting of Rajbiraj Municipality underway
RAJBIRAJ: The vote counting of Rajbiraj Municipality in Saptari district is underway, the district election office said.
The results of 17 out of 18 local bodies in the district have been announced so far. However, the results of Rajbiraj Municipality is yet to be published.
The elections of the Municipality was halted after the ward chief candidate of Rajbiraj Municipality-15 died of heart attack, and the elections were held on Friday.
According to the District Election Office, the vote counting of the most of the wards in the Municipality has been completed.
According the DEO RJPN Chandar Shekhar Chaudhary clinced ward-1, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Arun Yadav won in ward-2, Independent candidate Sudarshan Singh won in ward-3, CPN-Maoist Centre candidate Akhtar Baba triumphed in ward-4, Nepali Congress Sameer Jha got victorious in ward-5, NC Shiva Narayan Sha clinched ward-7, CPN-Maoist Centre Jaya Narayan Mandal won in Rajbiraj-8.
As of latest election update, Rastriya Janata Party Nepal is leading the mayoral election with 2864 votes, followed by Federal Socialist Forum Nepal with 2653 votes and CPN-Maoist Centre with 2338 votes.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal have won five seats each, RJPN has clinched four seats and UML has won in two local units followed by Naya Shakti Party Nepal with a solitary victory.
Earlier, the third phase of local level elections were held in province number 2 on September 18.
