BAJURA: An unidentified group of three youths thrashed an assistant returning officer who was on his way to the duty station at Pokharelake of Badimalika Municipality in Bajura on Wednesday.

The youths attacked Bindeshwor Prasad Yadav of Siraha Municipality, Siraha, while he was on the way to Budhinanda Municipality-based Nandeshwori High School voting centre.

Police said Yadav received injuries on his back, legs and other body parts. He is receiving treatment at the Martadi-based District Hospital. Yadav is a teacher at Bichhayan High School. He said youths attacked him indiscriminately and looted Rs 12 000 cash from him.

Youths involved in the assault are yet to be identified. A search for the absconding youths is on, said police.
