VPs fresh oath: Leaders meet prez
KATHMANDU: Law minister Prem Bahadur Singh, parliamentary affairs minister Dr Minendra Rijal and officials of ministries concerned today met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav regarding the fresh oath to be taken by Vice President Paramananda Jha.
The President inquired about the legal provision and complications while administering the oath of office and secrecy to Jha, whose last oath taken in Hindi was nullified by a Supreme Court ruling in September last year.
Dr Yadav asked the ministers and secretaries to make an arrangement in such a way that he would not land in a controversy. In reply, the ministers assured the President that there would not be any controversy as the Legislature-Parliament had already passed a sankalpa prastav (stricture motion) in the regard. They also asked the President to prepare ground for Jha’s oath before his maiden official visit to India beginning February 15.
