War museum to be built in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Plans are ongoing to establish a war museum at Shaktikhor in Kalika Municipality, Chitwan.

The museum would be set up in the then third division of the Maoist combatants by collecting the arms and documents used during the decade long people’s war.

Mayor of Kalika Municipality, Khum Narayan Shrestha said that homework has been initiated after the Co-chairperson of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal made an announcement to establish a war museum in Shaktikhor. According to Mayor Shrestha, the modalities and proper site for the museum are under discussions.

However, a province-level industrial estate is being developed in the area. Province Assembly Member Ghanshyam Dahal said that the museum would depict the history of the war along with the weapons and documents used during the period. He said that the museum could be representative of Nepal's history and a tourist destination.
