We expect the judiciary to serve due justice: Gagan Thapa
NEPALGUNJ: Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa has said that it is now upon the judiciary to resolve the current political crisis faced by the country.
Speaking at a presser organised by Banke Chapter of Nepal Press Union on Tuesday, Thapa said that the honourable courts must show discretion and do justice. "We expect and we demand that justice should not meet an end within the walls of the court," Thapa elaborated.
The NC leader stressed that the courts verdict matters especially at a time when people's faith on the republican system is on the edge due to the President's partisan actions and intentions. "At such sensitive point, if the courts fail to deliver justice, to accept its verdict is one thing but to have respect for the same is an entirely different matter," he added.
Thapa, however, expressed hope that the Supreme Court would serve just verdict on the issue of House of Representatives dissolution that is currently being reviewed by the Constitutional Bench.
"Because two of the institutions - Prime Minister and President - have violated the constitutional provisions, our expectations with the Supreme Court remains even more."
He spoke at length about the Prime Minister's 'unconstitutional' move to recommend the dissolution of House in a whim and the President's biased prompt response to the same at the programme.
