DADELDHURA: A woman died while her husband sustained critical injuries while they poisoned themselves in an apparent suicide attempt, in Chipur village of Dadeldhura district on Wednesday evening.

The 55-year-old Dhanadevi Bhatta died and her 65-year-old Shankar was injured.

Police said the residents of Chipur-2 had tried to kill themselves to escape repeated nagging from their son and daughter-in-law. They had consumed a mixture of rodenticides  and distilled water, according to police.

It has been reported that the couple had misunderstanding with their son and daughter-in-law recently.

The sexagenarian is undergoing treatment at the Dadeldhura Sub-Regional Hospital.

The suicide cases are increasing in Dadeldhura district of late.
