Woman deprived of facilities for not donating land

Dolakha, April 24

A woman from Tamakoshi Rural Municipality has come to Dolakha headquarters Charikot seeking justice after rural municipality representatives cut off government facilities to her family for refusing to donate land for road construction.

Lakshima Apagain, 60, has submitted a compliant to Dolakha Assistant Chief District Officer Aulakh Bahadur Ale saying that the ward office had cut off government facilities. She sought justice from Ale. In the complaint letter, the woman sought security for her family.

Lakshima complained that she and her family were cut off from government facilities for not donating land to construct an agriculture road through Apagain family’s  land without the technician’s design and estimate. “A meeting convened on March 29 took the decision to cut off government facility to my family saying that I had not donated land for road construction,” she bemoaned.

It is learnt that after the Apagain family declined to give land, a meeting of ward chair Phuyal, head teacher Tika Ghimire of Mahendra Secondary School and local intellectuals, among others, had taken the decision to cut off all the facilities from the ward to the Apagain family.

Ward chair Phuyal, however, claimed that they had just created fear in the Apagain family as the family was his relative. He said that no facilities available at the ward had been halted.

Assistant CDO Ale said that a complaint had been registered and the district administration office would probe the case.
