Woman dies after being swept by river in Sankhuwasabha

BHOJPUR: A woman was found dead after being swept away by a river in Makalu Rural Municipality-3 in Sankhuwasabha district on Tuesday.

Police have identified the deceased as Mingma Khangdu Sherpa, 34, of Ekuwa in the rural municipality. According to police, Mingma was swept away by the swelled-up Bhyagute River while she was crossing it on her return home yesterday.

She had gone to a local health post with her husband for treatment. The river lacks a bridge for safe crossing. Her husband has been reported safe.

It takes two days of walking to reach the incident site from Sankhuwasabha district headquarters, Khandbari.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased will be sent to Khandbari-based District Hospital, police informed.
