BARA: A 65-year-old woman lost her life due to excessive cold in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-24 of Bara district on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Manmatiya Devi Tharuni of Manharwa Dachhintola of the sub-metropolis.

Manmatiya — who was engaged in the preparation of the Maghi festival all day — had gone to sleep on Sunday night and was found dead in her bed at 4 am this morning, informed her son Dipendra Chaudhary.

With this the death toll due to cold weather has reached two in the district.

Earlier, another man, Gayasudin Ansari (50) of Shrinagar Bairiya in Pachrauta Municipality-5 succumbed to dropping temperature in the district.

Recently, the temperature has been dropping drastically affecting the daily lives of the people in the district.
