Woman dies of snakebite in Saptari

RAJBIRAJ: A woman died of snake bite at Lalapatti-9 in Saptari on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Bechani Devi Mandal (55).

She is said to have been bitten by the snake while collecting fodder in her farmland, according to locals.

The number of snakebite deaths in the district has reached seven in this month so far.

Likewise, more than 200 snakebite victims have received treatment at the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital alone in the period, a hospital source said.

Five to six snakebite victims visit the hospital daily, the source added.

Similarly, other health institutions in the district are also reported to be receiving snakebite patients.

The number of snakebite incidents is assumed to have increased in the district this year.
